The writing on tyres located on the side of your sidewall has two main purposes.
The first is to help you identify the size and specification of your tyres correctly. The second is to confirm that the tyre has been tested and approved by European and the applicable country safety standards.
If you see an “E” marking on the side wall of the tyre it is there to represent the European mandatory marking.
Although it is not illegal, at Xavier Auto Clinic we don’t recommended having tyres with a lower speed rating or load capacity than the manufacturer recommended tyre specification for your vehicle, or to have a combination of different tyre construction types.
If you have any confusion a good suggestion would be to consult your vehicle handbook, which will confirm your vehicles tyre speed and load ratings as well as any additional requirements, or alternatively feel free to ask Xavier Auto Clinic to look this up for you.
